I have been an avid fisherman since I can remember. My Dad and Grandad raised me with a fishing pole in my hand from the day I could walk. In fact my first rod was a cane pole to catch bluegill and the occasional crappie. No fancy rods or reels for me until I was 5 years old. Then the day came that i graduated to a Zebco 202. My first catch on that pole was from a small lake in Carbondale, KS. It was a 5 lb. black bass while crappie fishing during the spring spawn for crappie. I'll never forget that day. I was approximately 75 yards away from Dad when I hooked that fish. I battled and battled all the time yelling for him to come help. No help came. I fought that fish for what seemed like a century, but finally got it landed. Once I had it on the bank the old man finally came up and said" I knew you could handle it boy, that is why I didn't hurry over to help." Since that day I have loved to fish for anything that would bite and that was my passion that still holds true today.
